Thanks for this–all of this has to be said. i wish i wrote better to share my experiences as well. i am always reminded of the KRS-ONE song “who protects us from you”, nearly every time i encounter an officer.

fortunately, my last encounter with an officer (an asian dude) ended up positive, although the reason for stopping me was unknown… first overall positive of many encounters in my vehicle i’ve ever had.

What? I can’t believe this happened to you in Los Angeles. But then this happened to me while riding with a friend who is from Los Angeles in Los Angeles. We were stopped by the police in route to his mother’s house in South Central. This was in the early 1990s when this happened. The police stopped us informing us that my friend’s tag would expire in a month? I think that if I were not in the car, they may have done something to him. It was so stupid.

I appreciate you sharing your personal story here.

I know your son will be fine driving. Just remind him to stay calm, cool and collected around the police.

Do I trust them? Not really : /
