*I don’t get paid for my opinions in any way; this is just me sharing stuff that I like and I think you will too.
A couple of years ago I found Design-her-Gals and I’ve been hooked ever since. It’s like dressing a virtual paper doll, but what makes it unique is that the paper doll is you! Starting in a dressing room, you choose your eye color/shape, skin color, body shape, hair color/style/length and then the fun part–the clothes. The clothes are so fashionable and the combinations are endless; it’s really addictive. My daughter can be on this site forever, creating different versions of herself with different hair styles, outfits and props. Besides creating a Gal who looks like you, adding accessories personalizes your Gal even more. So if you are a runner, musician, artist, cook, CEO–whatever–there is an accessory for your Gal to wear or hold.
Now, you can just create Gals for the fun of it, like my daughter, or you can save your Gals and order them on stationary, business cards, labels, invitations and many other items. I bought the Print-From-Home Greater Gal Membership and it’s the best deal: for $44.95 a year I get to print my Gals on my own paper as much as I want. I have printed notecards, thank you cards and business cards with paper that I bought from Staples and it looks fantastic. The best part is that I can change my Gal at any time–and I do; I have Gals for different seasons, personal or blog correspondence and dressed up or down. Here’s a folded notecard that I made for personal correspondence (in the summer):
And this is a “mommy card” that my daughter and I made together; I give this out if someone wants to contact me for a playdate:
But designing a Gal isn’t just all about fun and function; it’s not just a website, but a community for women to educate and empower themselves and each other. Design-her-Gal is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for late-stage breast cancer by giving a percentage of all sales to the Gal to Gal Foundation. Two things women like–playing dress-up and creating community–coming together for the greater good. What’s not to like?
